Curated tips
Lagom Tips para San Miguel de Allende
The door rule: Don't judge by the façade — the best spots have no signs. Peek into interior courtyards through the heavy wooden doors to find the authentic, quiet San Miguel, free of crowds.
Independence break: Plan a couple of hours of separate exploration on day three. Reuniting for dinner with new stories keeps the group dynamic fresh and prevents the exhaustion of always being together.
Parroquia photo: Avoid the crowds by going during the "Blue Hour" (dawn or 15 minutes after sunset). Shoot from Calle de Aldama — the frame with ochre walls and the illuminated dome is far more sophisticated.
Fun fact

The famous Parroquia was not designed by an architect but by a local master builder who drew inspiration from postcards of European Gothic cathedrals. Its rooftops offer the longest and most photogenic "blue hour" in the country.

What to pack
0 / 8
🗺️Drive from Mexico City

3.5 to 4 hours by car. Use the bypass to enter the city and avoid driving into the historic center — the streets are extremely narrow and cobbled.

🚌Bus

Luxury services (ETN or Primera Plus) arrive at the SMA terminal. A 10-minute Uber from there drops you at your hotel.

🗺️Getting around locally

San Miguel is a walking city. Bring comfortable shoes. For longer distances or with luggage, Uber works excellently and affordably.
